At this very second i'm sitting in a loft at Arch St. in the Chinatown area of Philadelphia. My feet are killing me from walking around in new boots. Its a fucking long story how i got here. I'm in the home of Brent, Craig, Shane, and Shane's girlfriend Rona. They have a huge brick/wooden beam loft. Windows around the entire space. And they've divided it into various rooms. They have a small pub recreation in one corner with shelves of bottles, stools and 2 couches. I've been given this couch as a place to stay until I go to DC on monday. These guys and gal are so great. I'm so grateful. I helped clean-up the bar today. So I feel like they really dont mind me for 3 nights.I met Brent from CraigsList last night. Ended up being invited to a "long weekend" party in the offices of a small gay-operated design studio. Brent works there - and assured me it was actually a party composed of a bunch of gay professional strangers and that no one else would really know each other, so it wasnt like trespassing on anybody's moment.
I got offered a job by this tall japanese guy working as an assistant in his book publishing company. It was nice...but I'm on a vacation to work on myself right now. Actually taking a break from doing what everyone else I know wants me to do.
From tipping a few (4?) beers at that party we met with VERY hot Craig and his younger brother Luke at some very bright and loud and abrasive bar. From there the night goes blurry - we took a taxi to their pad - met Shane and Rona...who must have thought i was a disgusting site. We passed a rod and spoke of minerals...but i dont recall anything from that.
Today Shane and I went to records stores, got a coffee, got a big fried sandwich, drank some keystone, and after we couldnt stand the walking anymore we just got back here.
Tonight we're going to a gay nightclub called 12th Air Command. But Tomorrow I got to museums and find this "Liberty Bell". Its rather odd that we were all the same country once. And that some of the largest American landmarks are to honor its secession from England. So yes, tomorrow will be a serious and SOBER day. I must promise myself that.
