Sick of the Cold!

A bit sad today. All the traveling, running for trains, all with not enough rest has me down. I also lost a glove back in Philadelphia...so my left hand is a rather numb. On the bright side, I met a nice straight bloke Jared, a student at GeorgeTown University heading back after a long-weekend break to his dorm from his girlfriend's in Philly. We met on the train, both having MacBooks!, and he gave me a map and info about the landmarks to see here. So i followed his advice and got a hotel about 8 blocks from the White House.

Its a room at the Holiday Inn Central in downtown. It was a 20 minute walk from the Union train station. A long cold windy walk. Sorry, I'll stop complaining now. I have learned from many guys that actually the Smithsonian IS open today, as is everything else tourist related...its just government offices that are closed. Excellent news! After i warm up in here a bit I'm walking to the White House, then to the Smithsonian. Then on to the Capitol dome and Lincoln statue buildings. I do wish I could be here when its warmer...and see the famed Cherry Trees in blossom.

The chinese food i had at Union Station isn't sitting well...I must go take care of that!
