I'm at a Starbucks on Wisconsin Ave at the moment. Not quite sure where I am...will have to grab a taxi back to the Union Station after I finish this coffee and brownie. I hope to catch an Amtrack to Raleigh NC later this afternoon. Its a 6 hour train ride...but I'll be making some serious progress south. I've been in the States 2 weeks now!
I forgot to mention - its WARM again. Thank Christ! And thanks to everyone who wrote yesterday to cheer me up! As I've been told, starting in Florida and working north as the winter thawed would have been easier. With the temp rising - my spirits rise with them.
As for last night - I stayed with a gay couple, Jeff & Karl, who were so hospitable and helpful. After an afternoon of wandering the Mall, I emailed with them on CraigsList - then met them at Blue Duck Tavern at 9pm. A fantastic and HEAVY meal...I had bratwurst with sauerkraut and mustard...and 4 or 5 Stella Artois. Incredible conversations about electronic music, sampler machines, the crackdown on online file-trading, copyright control, YouTube, - It was an awesome evening.
After dinner we got in their car and drove to their apartment - 2 blocks from here. We watched Reality cable TV, and I shared with them some music and porn from my MacBook. I slept on their sofa, but had to leave early as they had jobs to depart for at 8am!
